First notes about Ruskeala settlement are related to 1500. It was a small village on the bank of Ruskolka River at the foot of Marble Mount. Inhabitants of the village were engaged in hunting, fishing and agriculture. In 1632 there was built a chapel and later it was supplemented with church.
